GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a release candidate of maemo Development Platform 2.1 containing 
the following components:

 - armel rootfs
 - Nokia non-free binary packages tarball which is used for creating customized rootfs
 - Nokia non-free binary packages tarball which is used for rootstrap
 - i386 rootstrap/minimal rootstrap
 - armel rootstrap/minimal rootstrap

Minimal rootstrap contains only open source packages.


SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

 - Scratchbox 0.9.8.8
 - Do not install doctools for scratchbox.

Debian distribution is preferred for development.

BUGS

562    osso-gnupg can not be used for signing stuff
735    cfdisk in Maemo SDK 2.0 ARM produces illegal instruction ...

FEATURES IN 2.1

 * libosso-abook APIs available for development
 * minimal rootstraps are now available for experimental use (not officially supported).
 * kernel source moved out of rootstrap to minimize the size (the rootstraps are now 40M less). 
   kernel-source can be downloaded separately from the repository.
 * New tarball: Maemo_Dev_Platform_rootfs_Nokia_Binaries_v2.1.tar.gz  for non-free nokia binaries to be used in creating customised rootfs.
 * New tarball: Maemo_Dev_Platform_rootstrap_Nokia_Binaries_v2.1.tar.gz  for non-free nokia binaries to be used in creating customised rootfs.
 * osso-dsp-modules-su-18-maemo available
 * missing source packages available: clinkc, liboil, busybox, improved sdk-themes, osso-dsp-loader, gst-plugins-*


KNOWN LIMITATIONS

 * When installing certain packages, for example libosso-gnomevfs2-common
   one assertion in glibc is not met:  ld.so: rtld.c: 288: _dl_start_final: [patch] Assertion `info->l.l_tls_modid == 0' failed!    
   Workaround: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 when you do apt-get install libosso-gnomevfs2-common
 * When upgrading from maemo rootstrap 2.0 to 2.1 repository , a few packages will not upgrade. 
    They actually have a greater versions in 2.0 than 2.1 due to code branching in 2.0
   These are: gst-plugins-farsight, libgalago-dev, libjingle-dev, lessertunjo-dev, libacl1, libcst, libxproto-randr.
